RecurDyn è una soluzione dedicata alla simulazione cinematica e dinamica dei meccanismi. Questa particolare area tecnica del CAE (Computer Aided Engineering), viene comunemente identificata dall’acronimo MBD (Multi Body Dynamics), in ragione del fatto che i meccanismi sono sempre sistemi di corpi variamente interconnessi, dotati di mobilità assoluta e relativa. Nell’affollato panorama dei codici di simulazione multibody, RecurDyn presenta delle peculiarità che lo rendono particolarmente interessante in termini di completezza, facilità d’uso, personalizzazione e prestazioni numeriche.
La completezza, si declina da un lato nelle funzioni piuttosto avanzate per la simulazione dei contatti e delle flessibilità strutturali, dall’altro nella gamma di verticalizzazioni interne, già predisposte per creare modelli anche complessi di sistemi meccanici molto diffusi.
La facilità d’uso è figlia di un’interfaccia pulita e ben organizzata, che permette di assemblare i modelli multibody quasi esclusivamente mediante il mouse. L’esperienza d’uso di RecurDyn è ulteriormente facilitata dal post-processore dedicato, che permette di creare grafici ed animazioni delle simulazioni in modo assolutamente intuitivo.
La personalizzazione del software e delle operazioni che si compiono al suo interno è affidata ad un ambiente integrato di programmazione, basato sui linguaggi C#, Visual Basic, o Python. Questo strumento, ideale per gli utenti che hanno esigenze più spinte, consente di creare blocchi di codice per automatizzare operazioni frequenti e per creare in pochi click veri e propri modelli.
Le prestazioni numeriche sono, infine, il principale punto di forza di RecurDyn. I modelli numerici vengono creati internamente utilizzando coordinate relative, cosicché il solutore ricorsivo dedicato risolve le equazioni in tempi che sono da 2 a 20 più bassi rispetto ai solutori standard.
