Tolerances propagate, often experiencing amplifications, among the individual parts of a product trough contacts, leading to potential negative effect on the assemblability and product performance/quality. Therefore, it’s becoming more and more crucial for companies the tolerance analysis to preliminary validate the design with the aim of intercept (and solve) potential non-compliances prior of their presence in the real world where their management would imply massive costs.

The CETOL 6σ training is aimed at all those who wish to integrate CAT (Computer Aided Tolerancing) software into product development process to address 3D complex tolerance chains in a very short time and with high reliability.

CETOL 6σ (available for SolidWorks, Siemens NX, Catia V5/V6 and PTC Creo CAD software) allows designers to simulate the impact of mechanical variations on product assemblability and functional requirements early in the development stage, prior of prototyping and manufacturing, to obtain the desired quality level at the minimum development costs. This in turn leads to huge potential savings in avoiding scraps, warranty repair, reduced time-to-market among others.

Target Audience

Designers/engineers that need to accurately address the impact of their choices about critical-to-quality dimensions and tolerance values in their drawings. Evaluation of the impact of “out-of-specs” on product performance and management of non-compliances.

Pre-requisites

Knowledge about “worst case” tolerance chain calculation could be useful.

Agenda

Cetol 6σ Modeler: description of the user interface and main commands, integration with CAD software and leverage of the native CAD models, description of joints and mating conditions in assembly, description of functional analysis and definition of the output measurements. Components dimensioning schemes: dimensional tolerances, geometric tolerances, datum reference frame (DRF), topological constraints, data management and saving options related to PDM/PLM, analysis execution. Cetol 6σ Analyzer postprocessor: results and corrective actions, statistical contribution and sensitivity analysis.
