Engineering Day | Webinar

Reducing operational set-up effort through testing and simulation

Date: 6 October 2021

Timetable: 16:00 CET

Speaker/s: Silvia Demattè, Novella Saccenti

Language: English

In the milling industry the correct sizing of the suction systems is of primary importance for many reasons:

  • Avoid dust spillage from machines and from transport systems of wheat and its products;
  • Separate the dust and other lighter impurities from the wheat;
  • Separate the grinding products by density difference;
  • Contain the moisture content in the grinding products and in the machines and reduce the formation of mold.

Our client was able to almost halve costs and strongly reduce delivery time of the identification of the correct prevalence of the fan that ensures the right supply of flour to the milling machines for various types of grain.

Indeed, 1D and 3D simulations enabled better and faster understanding of physical phenomena even in parts that are not physically accessible, and a platform to integrate and automate the various analysis made it easier and more efficient to utilize knowledge coming from experimental campaigns and designer's experience, and explore working conditions where many physical tests would otherwise be needed.

Fluid Dynamics Optimization of Racing Engine Inlet Ducts at Aprilia Racing

Optimising racing engine inlet ducts using fluid dynamics

Racing engines are continuously evolved and fine-tuned to allow them to achieve extraordinary levels of performance, albeit with great complexity. However, MotoGP regulations restrict engine development by constraining some of the main design parameters.
