Ansys Sherlock è l'unico software di progettazione elettronica che, basandosi sul concetto della Reliability Physics o Physics of Failure (PoF), fornisce previsioni di vita rapide ed accurate, per l'hardware elettronico a livello del componente, della scheda e del sistema, già a partire dalla prima fase di progettazione.
Più dei 70% dei costi di sviluppo del prodotto viene speso nel ciclo di “testing-fail-fix-repeat”; cioè in quel processo che, senza l’ausilio della simulazione virtuale, costringe i progettisti di hardware elettronico a numerosi test in laboratorio prima di raggiungere le conformità richieste dal prodotto Sherlock fornisce previsioni di affidabilità rapide e accurate già dalle prime fasi di progettazione, ed è adattato ad implementare materiali particolari, componenti, stackup PCB, ball grid array (BGA) e condizioni d'uso specifiche.
Durante la fase di pre-processing, in pochi minuti, Sherlock traduce automaticamente le informazioni presenti nei formati geometrici ECAD in modelli agli elementi finiti, per l’esecuzione di analisi termo-strutturali e dinamiche strutturali, grazie alla fornita libreria di componenti presenti col software.
La soluzione delle analisi eseguite in Sherlock è rapidamente post-processata per dare informazioni accurate sull’affidabilità e la vita a fatica del componente e del sistema elettronico.
