ISEO ULTIMATE ACCESS TECHNOLOGIES produces products that cover the full range of both mechanical and software-based intelligent access technologies for structures ranging from residential buildings and large commercial sites through to transport facilities and critical infrastructure.
The company has been drawing on EnginSoft’s technical expertise for the past two years to introduce a new method of calculating tolerance chains during the design of new products. ISEO has stringent tolerance management requirements for its products that focus on conducting tolerance chain analyses of a minimum of five components for each product during the design phase in order to ensure production reliability and repeatability as well as to enable the rapid evaluation of the potential impact of any non-compliant components during production so that rapid decisions can be made regarding whether to reject unsuitable batches.
This case study describes ISEO’s project to introduce a global dimensional management approach based on CETOL6σ that starts from the product concept phase and includes design development and prototyping and extends on to cover all other phases of production through to the finished product, with the guidance and support of EnginSoft. While still in its infancy, the company is already b enefiting from the first results, where CETOL6σ has reduced the time required to analyse tolerance chains and guaranteed full control of the internal 3D model. Once the approach is fully implemented, ISEO expects to reduce flow time (design, manufacturing, and dimensional control) and scrap.
