modeFRONTIER History
In 1996, the European Union Research Project on Design Optimization 'FRONTIER' was initiated in partnership with British Aerospace (UK), Parallab (Norway), University of Trieste (Italy), University of Newcastle (UK), Daimler-Benz Aerospace (Germany), Defence Evaluation and Research Agency (UK), Electrolux-Zanussi (Italy), Calortecnica (Italy).
Based on the starting point of 'Analysis of the design process', the partners' objective was to develop a technology for multi-partnered collaborative design optimization which was and still today is widely regarded as the key area for future European industrial competitiveness.
In 1998, EnginSoft was subcontracted by the project consortium to elaborate an exploitation plan based on the outcome of the project.
In 1999, EnginSoft S.p.A. and the key staff who conceived and developed the FRONTIER Project founded ES.TEC.O., EnginSoft Optimization Technologies S.r.l. In doing so, the founders' common sense and intention was to transfer the knowledge acquired while working on FRONTIER into a successful commercial product.
ESTECO subsequently implemented achievements and knowledge acquired through the FRONTIER Project into a world class PIDO Process Integration and MDO software technology, the multi-objective optimization platform modeFRONTIER.
Today, modeFRONTIER is widely acknowledged by industry, research bodies and academia as one of the most complete systems and the most robust and effective architecture in its field.
ESTECO srl headquartered in Trieste, Italy is responsible for the continued development and further enhancement of the technology. ESTECO promotes modeFRONTIER through a worldwide network of distributors, and through alliances with software producers, hardware vendors, academia and research institutions.
EnginSoft SpA, in turn, is in charge of promoting modeFRONTIER in Europe through a hybrid network of subsidiaries, joint ventures and sub-distributors.
